Counseling Services
Licensed therapists at NYFS provide individual, group, couples and family therapy to children and adults in Newtown and the surrounding areas. NYFS also has a Board Certified Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who conducts psychiatric assessments and provides medication management as needed to the clients who are seen for counseling by our therapists.
Outpatient counseling services are delivered by providers with strong credentials and clinical expertise in child, adolescent and adult behavioral health and substance abuse treatment. Our team of professionals are dedicated to helping each individual identify, adapt and effectively deal with difficult times.
Counseling treatment is tailored to individual needs, and we serve clients with a wide variety of concerns including, but not limited to, children’s’ behavioral problems, parenting concerns, anxiety, depression, anger, family or couples relationship problems, bereavement, stress, divorce, and substance abuse.
The outpatient counseling services at NYFS are continually assessed through a Performance Quality Improvement process, including measuring client satisfaction and change in functioning or symptoms. Monitoring the effectiveness of treatment and service delivery enables NYFS to continually meet the needs of the clients we serve.
We accept most major private insurance plans, Medicaid, Medicare and HUSKY. We also have a sliding scale for clients with no insurance, with fees ranging from $25 to $100 per session based on the household income and size of the family.

We also will be introducing Solving the Social Puzzle which will promote an understading of social skills for children ages 5-9 in a setting that will allow them to practice with their peers. This 10 week series will be facilitated by Adrienne Slater, LCSW.
