Mission Statement

Newtown Youth & Family Services, Inc. is a licensed, non-profit youth service bureau and mental health clinic dedicated to helping children & families achieve their highest potential.  We provide programs, services, activities, counseling, support groups and education throughout the Greater Newtown area regardless of ability to pay.

Behavior Health Program:

NYFS is a non-profit, community behavioral health agency licensed by the Connecticut Department of Public Health, the Department of Children & Families as a Psychiatric Outpatient Clinic for Adults and Children and the Department of Public Health for outpatient treatment of substance abuse and dependent persons.  Whatever services are necessary, our professional staff of licensed therapists works with clients to help them identify their strengths, articulate challenges and solutions, and chart progress in order to achieve self-sufficiency and create better futures for themselves, their families, and the communities in which they live.

The Behavioral Health Program provides a full range of clinical programs and services:

  • Substance Abuse Recovery Services
    • Support Groups
    • Case Management Services
    • Information & Referral
    • Educational & Family Life Workshops

    • Behavioral Problems

    In addition, support groups are offered for new mothers, children of divorce, children who have a sibling with special needs, and grandparents who are raising their children’s children.
