November 09, 2009
Press Release - Amanda Walsh
NEWTOWN, CT – The 24th Annual Holiday Festival features professionally decorated historic homes, a Victorian Tea, a Festival of Trees and other family-friendly activities. The Festival will be held on Sunday, December 6, 2009 at the Edmond Town Hall and other Main Street locations from 11 am to 4 pm.
“The festival brings family, friends, and community together to renew our commitment to assisting those that need a helping hand,” said Layne Lescault, NYFS Board Chair. “Funds raised by the event allow NYFS to see those who are un- or underinsured -- populations that are growing in our community due to the present unstable economic times. Their, and our, need is greater now than ever.”
All Holiday Festival activities are convenient to Main Street. Edmond Town Hall will house the Victorian Tea, ballet, craft fair, and pictures with Santa. The gingerbread house contest and Festival of Trees will be located at CH Booth Library. Bus transportation will circulate to bring festival participants to decorated homes. Trinity Church will host the service of “Lessons and Carols”.
“The Holiday Festival is possible due to the caring and dedication of businesses like Newtown Savings Bank,” said Beth Agen, NYFS Executive Director. “Without their financial and volunteer support we couldn’t pull off an event of this magnitude. For them and the other sponsors we are infinitely grateful.”
Tickets are available at Newtown Youth and Family Services, CH Booth Library, Newtown Drug Center, and Newtown Savings Bank (Bethel, Danbury, Monroe, Newtown and Southbury). The cost is $15 for individuals and $25 for families (2 Adults, 2 Children). Each additional child is $5.
