Newtown Youth and Family Services is looking for a Part-Time Mentor to facilitate community prevention programs.
Looking for energetic, organized, and detail oriented candidate that is comfortable with intermediate and secondary aged students and has experience in Public Health, Allied Health, Health Promotion, Nursing, or Education.
Minimum High School Diploma, Bachelor Degree a plus.
This position would start in August and be roughly 8-10 hours per week, some early mornings and weekends required based on events.
The Mentor would work with agency staff and school staff to plan and implement our peer to peer mentorship program, (FUSION), community events and substance free prevention activities in the Greater Newtown area.
Mentor would be responsible for assisting the Program Coordinator with the implementation of Social Groups for youths either on the Autism spectrum or with other social difficulties. And be responsible during the Social Group outings to help engage peers with one another, redirect or enforce social skills, settle minor conflicts and create opportunities to play. And may help with the Sibshop program. Managing social media, maintaining database, and recruiting volunteers for events will be required as well.
