Mental Health & Addiction Counseling

Counselors at NYFS provide individual, couple, group and family therapy to children, adolescents and adults from Newtown and the surrounding areas. Outpatient counseling services are delivered by providers with strong credentials and clinical expertise in child, adolescent, adult behavioral health and addiction treatment.

Our team of professionals is dedicated to helping each individual, couple, group or family identify, adapt and effectively deal with difficult times.

Counseling treatment is tailored to specific client needs and is designed to assist people in improving the quality of their lives. We encourage and support each individual to identify and attain their personal goals.

Our counselors utilize a variety of treatment modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Play Therapy and behavioral interventions.

The outpatient counseling services at NYFS are continually assessed through a Performance Quality Improvement (PQI) process including measuring client satisfaction and change in functioning or symptoms. Monitoring the effectiveness of treatment and service delivery enables NYFS to continually meet the needs of the clients we serve.
