NEWTOWN YOUTH & FAMILY SERVICES CELEBRATES SELECTION AS THE BIG Y COMMUNITY BAG PROGRAM

Newtown, CT – Newtown Youth & Family Services (NYFS) has been selected as a beneficiary of the Big Y Community Bag Program for the month of November.

The Big Y Community Bag Program, which launched in January 2019, is a reusable bag program that facilitates community support with the goal to make a difference in the communities where shoppers live and work.

NYFS was selected as the November beneficiary of the program by store leadership at the Big Y located at 6 Queen Street, Newtown CT. NYFS will receive a $1 donation every time the $2.50 reusable Community Bag is purchased at this location during November, unless otherwise directed by the customer through the Giving Tag attached to the bag.

“We’re thrilled and very appreciative of Big Y for choosing NYFS to be the November beneficiary!,” said Candice Bohr, Executive Director of NYFS. “The majority of our fundraising efforts, for 2020, have been drastically altered or were canceled so being selected will help replenish some of the funds we would have received. REC Club (our Autism social recreational program), our community programs and some of our mental health services like the adolescent therapy groups are all affected by our fundraising.”

NYFS is a youth service bureau and mental health clinic for children, teens, adults and seniors.  For over 30 years, NYFS has been committed to providing high quality human health services to promote individual and community wellness. Specialized services include: outpatient individual, couples and family counseling, substance abuse treatment services, Autism and social skills programs, prevention initiatives and support groups.
