What's New at the Agency?

 

Donut Dash 2012

Every year Porco's Karate Academy holds the Donut Dash where hungry and brave runners complete a 5k and consume a donut. This fun event also hosts a Kids 1 mile fun run for kids ages 6-13 years of age. This year the Donut Dash will be held on Saturday, May 26th at 8:30 AM at Demitasse Cafe on 3 Glen Rd. in Sandy Hook.

 

Not only does the day involve family and fun, all the proceeds are for a good cause. Porco's donates the proceeds to Newtown Youth and Family Services. With this money we are able to run groups such as Children of the Force which helps children heal from the pain of their parents divorce or separation.

 

There is a discount for pre-registering, but runners may also register the day of the event. Click below for the registration form:

Children of the Force

Divorce Support Group - This is a special FREE group to help your child heal from the pain caused by separation or divorce. It provides your children with a safe and neutral place to recognize and learn how to share their feelings. It offers a chance for your child to meet other children in the same situation and create a peer support system. Classes are held every Tuesday and Thursday evening starting May 8th and will run for 7 weeks. The spring schedule is as follows:


Tuesdays: 5-7 year olds – 4:00pm-5:00pm

Thursdays: 8-10 year olds – 4:00pm-5:00pm

Thursdays: 11-13 year olds – 5:00pm-6:00pm

Newtown Youth and Family Services, Inc. is dedicated to helping children and families achieve their highest potential.

Newtown Youth & Family Services’ vision is to become a recognized leader in providing mental health and support services.

WHO WE ARE

Our dynamic nonprofit agency combines clinical services and positive youth development programs to provide a continuum of care to residents of the greater Newtown area.

NYFS is a licensed, non-profit, mental health clinic and youth service bureau. We provide outpatient individual, couple and family counseling and substance abuse treatment services. In addition we offer prevention initiatives, after school, evening and weekend programs and support groups to promote individual and community wellness.

For more nearly 30 years, we have offered specialized programs and services to individuals of all ages.

Newtown Youth & Family Services is a 501(c)(3) Non Profit Organization.
