Food Event with Veggiecation
This event is coordinated with the national Veggiecation program and will focus on food safety and the life skills required to monitor and develop a healthy personal diet. There will be games and discussions about food groups, vitamins, minerals, food safety procedures (cleaning hands and maintaining a clean work space) and light cooking activities. Veggiecation staff will join NYFS staff from 6-7 p.m. to review vegetable and fruit recipes, to discuss the importance of eating fruits and vegetables, and to show students how to create simple and healthy snacks/meals. Snacks and drinks will be provided as well as samples of resulting recipes and cooking activities.
